Every motion she makes is [b]fluid and full of grace[/b]. She's as [b]silent[/b] as a windless sky. As enticing as her presence is, one would be wise not to be distracted. The being owning this form is an unmistakably [b]hardened warrior[/b]-poet. Any sign of danger catches her attention without fail and draws her into it. She fears death as little as she fears anything else, her [b]emotions stunted[/b] by vigorous psychological training. When in action, every one of her movements is deliberate, calculated, and swift. Whether by blade or bullet, her job is done [b]in a blur[/b]; blink or miss. Outside of trouble, she's calm, professional, and almost irritatingly [b]at peace[/b] with herself and everything around her.

Yukatan's kind are are a proud, space-faring, amphibious [b]alien species[/b] known as the Akmerians, from planet Akmer. They seek aesthetic perfection, high art and cultural refinement, looking to [b]spread these virtues[/b] to other species across the galaxy. They are [b]generally benevolent[/b] towards other forms of life, although the higher-ups in the Akmerian civilization have imposed a rather [b]condescending attitude[/b] towards other cultures. Needless to say, they are not the most diplomatically adept species, and not from a lack of trying either. Yukatan does not see herself as particularly patronizing; she likes to [b]place herself amid strange new civilizations[/b] instead of observing them from an ivory tower like most of her kind seem to prefer doing. This approach includes heralds of the generally [b]hedonistic and libertine lifestyle[/b] of young, fertile Akmerian individuals.

Her whole body is [b]soft and squishy[/b], like jelly and water balloons. Her skin is [b]moist, soft[/b] and [b]perfectly smooth[/b], unless there's something severely wrong with her. She has [b]no bones[/b], but cartilage at best in select locations. She is very difficult to damage by blunt trauma, but is fairly susceptible to [b]cutting[/b] and especially [b]piercing injury[/b]. Her skin [b]dries easily[/b] when subject to atmospheres less humid than the one on her homeworld, which is almost all of them, hence her attire of [b]moisture-proof[/b] bodysuits. Her weight, height and bust size vary slightly from the very same atmospheric condition of [b]humidity[/b].

A notable trait of Akmerians is that [b]roughly 10% of their genetically female population[/b] displays the phenotypic trait of a [b]fully functional set of male genitalia in place of the usual female set[/b], while the rest of the phenotype is left intact by the mutation. These are referred to as [b]the 'pleasure-born'[/b] and are usually treated as female, due to their genes and thus their hormonal influences. [b]Yukatan could easily be a pleasure-born[/b] (or in plain terms: a shemale).

[b]Akmerian males and pleasure-borns are known to be very well-endowed[/b], and during intercourse between members of this species, it's normal for the penis to enter so deep into the female that it [b]penetrates through the cervix[/b] and [b]pushes against the back wall[/b] of the womb, for ensured impregnation. Being anatomically predisposed for such a maneuver, this [b]does not hurt[/b] the female at all, but on the contrary: it is [b]the most pleasurable sensation[/b] attainable to Akmerians by physical means alone due to a biological reward mechanism. In the case of Yukatan's anatomy, a member will need to be [b]at least 8.5 inches to reach all the way[/b] to the back and trigger the sensation.

Displaying another trait that Akmerians are very famous for, Yukatan is largely [b]indifferent to being touched[/b], groped, molested, or even straight-up used for full sexual gratification without any warning. Raping her without being violent about it is next to impossible. [b]Only when pain kicks in[/b] does she start getting defensive. On Akmer, [b]sexual interaction between complete strangers[/b] is very lax, to the point at which it happens as if on its own, dictated by the whims of the strangers' bodies themselves rather than their owners' volitions.

For self-defense and tactical offense she usually carries at least a [b]curved high-frequency sword[/b] of a design traditional to her culture together with a directed-energy [b]pistol[/b]. On missions where danger is more expected, she also carries a semi-auto [b]rifle[/b]. Along with either of these setups is a few [b]hi-tech tools[/b] to help with a variety of tasks such as collecting data or manipulating matter. Now why would such an advanced civilization issue a weapon as primitive as a sword unto its defenders? There are a few points of concern. 1: Collateral damage. Firing a gun on a spaceship/station is generally too dangerous for everyone involved. 2: Noise. Akmerians are known for their stealthier approach to combat. 3: Ammunition. Running out of ammo in a desolate location may spell doom due to how difficult it usually is to find more. 4: Style. Guns aren't as easy to make look elegant as swords, and Akmerians love to look elegant, even when killing.

Those apparently baseless rumors of strange [b]mind-control powers[/b] related to their third eyes may prove to be more true than you could have ever expected...

On the flipside, too much pre-planning (or 'brainstorming', as some call it) can result in a feeling similar to having a book spoiled before I even started reading it. Plus, it's wasted effort that would be better spent actually roleplaying. If you get a really good idea, I'd actually prefer if you kept it as a surprise for later. The only thing I think must be well thought out is the basic premise of the plot, the 'hook' to build upon: Whether our characters know each other or not, and under which circumstances they meet if they're not interacting to begin with.
[indent][heading][u]Post perspective and tense[/u][/heading][/indent]I mostly write in third person for the sake of more flexibility and because nothing much else works when there's more than two players. I can also write in first/second/third perspective just fine: First when describing my own character, second when describing your character, and third when describing other characters. Also, I pretty much always write in [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_present#In_describing_fiction]historical present[/url]. Since we're more or less coming up with stuff on the fly, it should give a nice feeling that everything is also happening [i]right now[/i] within the story's own context. Makes things seem more urgent and tangible. Also makes it easy to detail past and future events within the story's own context. At least that's how I rationalize the habit.

This is no surprise, as pecking orders are an important part of nature and something every human being innately understands. Still, the overarching structure of a RP doesn't have to revolve entirely around the power dynamics between a set submissive and a set dominant, which is the way I prefer it.
