Wanted for crashing 3 corporate megaframes, countless instances of industrial espionage, computer tampering, unlawful network access, admin impersonation, and pretty much every other tech-felony law in the solar system, the hacker known as "Static Assassin" is one of the most wanted criminals between Earth and the Jupiter colonies. In the two years since investigators began searching for the mysterious hacker, his list of offenses has increased exponentially. At every turn, agents from the various agencies responsible for investigating tech-crime have found nothing but dead ends, derision, and the taunts of the hacker. In the long history of cyber-crime, no one is more infamous than "Static Assassin."

"The Fill" is a gigantic supercity that stretches from Boston to Atlanta on the East Coast of North America. This superlative structure is home to millions upon millions of people living in towering skyscrapers and monolithic structures. The lucky ones, at least. There are millions more down on Zero Level--the wretched and abandoned that do whatever they need to get by. Link is one of these people, just another orphan of The Fill, just another of the lost, stolen, or abandoned children that end up there.

Unlike most children, though, he didn't end up dead. Link was blessed with an intellect far beyond his years which, along with some occasional good luck, has helped him to survive as a cyberpunk. So far as most people know, he's just a street rat that gets by doing errands and odd jobs around Rust Town, the district he lives in. Many consider him a rude punk, but what would you expect from a kid raised by street-hackers and trolls? What they don't know is that this kid is actually a dangerous, wanted hacker--a computer genius among computer geniuses.

So, Link survives, mostly thanks to his alias "Static Assassin," whose activities online have made him a decent sum of credits. Enough to afford a killer deck and a place of his own.

Depending on your perspective, Link is either blessed or cursed with delicate, feminine features. With his long black hair, he's often mistaken for a girl. His less than stellar diet and physical fitness accentuate the effect, making him small and skinny. The boy's grey eyes have developed a hard look from his time on the streets of Rust Town, but due to his chronic insomnia (and use/abuse of stims) there are always bags under his eyes.
