Rachel is, for the most part an ordinary single woman. She works as an office manager. Her own boss likes her for her somewhat ruthless attitude, which leaves her often playing the "bad cop" on behalf of higher-ups. What isn't so ordinary is that she has the ability to read minds and implant thoughts. Implanting thoughts has side effects, which caused a lot of trouble in the past; She tries not to use this power, but she can occasionally give into the temptation.

Back when she was a teenager, she developed the ability to see into people's minds, and influence their thoughts. She carelessly made servants of whoever she wished. Later she found that if she exerted too much influence over someone, they started to become less human, and were controlled by her feelings rather than her commands.

Rachel didn't know how to undo those changes, and found her situation spiraling out of control as she had a growing group of monsters following her. These minions answered to her desires, unrestrained by Rachel's morals. She fled into the wilderness to escape retaliation for what her monsters did, and to prevent them from causing further harm.

She became lonely, and eventually allied with other magical outcasts, willing to join their more aggressive causes for something resembling friendship. She was slowly pushed into a leadership role as the outcasts decided their pecking order through force. Those that planned to attack her to show superiority were subdued by her monsters and mind-controlled not to harm her, causing others to be intimidated by the thought of being reprogrammed. She titled herself Queen Misery and set out to conquer the world, though she was only doing what she felt was expected of her.

When another powerful girl fought through her army, she bowed as if awaiting execution, feeling too much guilt to think she deserved to live. The Silver Valkyrie sympathized with her however, and the two made a pact that caused the two of them to forget about their abilities, and reversed Rachel's controlling influence over her victims.

She was able to lead a normal life, until her memories suddenly returned, making her aware of her latent abilities. She tries to restrain herself and not use these powers, but temptation can win out at times.
