[justify][b][color=pink]What's the purpose of a profile?[/color][/b]
At a first glance a profile seems to be meant to share information, to let others know what your character is about and the kinks you like, but that's not really true. The main purpose of a profile is to entice the reader, to seduce and captivate their attention to not only want to read your description but ultimately to desire to RP with you, because the ultimate goal is always the same: doing lewd things.

[b][color=pink]So, how do we go about it?[/color][/b]
The thing that always comes first is whether or not you like it, it is your profile after all, and the best way to figure out what you like is to just browse. The first thing you'll notice is the huge variety of profiles and that there's not just a single way to make a great one as each person is unique, so be critical! Think about what you like and don't like in a profile. Is the description too long? Could it use more sexy images? Observing other profiles is the first step to understand what you want to put in yours. Pay attention to the following areas: Avatar, Content, Formatting & In-line Images, Pictures, Kinks List and Custom Kinks.

[hr]
[b][color=pink]Avatar[/color] - [/b][s]the last airbender[/s] [b]first impressions.[/b]
[indent]● The avatar is the first thing people see, especially if they're looking at the 'Browse New' list or actively searching in F-list or F-chat.
● Your avatar is 100x100 in your profile, but on Icons it's reduced to 50% and in f-chat (search and right click) it's 33%. Make sure it looks good and understandable in all sizes!
● That 100x100 square is yours to do what you wish. You can make the background transparent, put a border, change the shape to a circle, etc.[/indent]

[b][color=pink]Description[/color] - the actual stuff you read.[/b]
[indent]● The description conveys your character information, but also how you write!
● Includes things like background, profession, physical description, personality, role in lewds, suggested scenarios, character adjustments for settings, spells and skills, etc.
● Sometimes less is more, keep it relevant and interesting to maintain people's attentions, or they'll just skip it. No one reads a wall of text!
● Everything other than key information should be stored away in drop-down boxes, keeping it organized, but boxes within boxes within boxes is a big no-no.[/indent]

[b][color=pink]Formatting & In-lines[/color] - let's make it pretty.[/b]
[indent]● Use ASCII/Unicode characters along with the [url=https://wiki.f-list.net/List_of_BBCode_tags]BBCode[/url] to create titles and format your text. [color=pink][user]Profile Templates[/user][/color] has a lot of formatting examples and [color=pink][user]Profile references[/user][/color] has plenty of tips.
[indent][color=gray][sub]Note: BBCode can be tricky. Sometimes one type of tags inside another won't work, but the other way around will.[/sub][/color][/indent]● [url=https://wiki.f-list.net/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_do_I_add_an_inline_image_to_my_profile.3F]In-line images[/url] allow you to put pictures on your profile. You can make enticing headers or even let an image that accurately conveys your character be the bulk of your profile.
● By clicking 'Preview BBCode' when editing your profile (at the top of the text box) you can see how it looks like.
● Sometimes a short paragraph is all that's needed to fully convey your character and a well placed image will keep your profile from looking bland.
● In the account settings you can choose different themes: Default, Light and Dark. Default and Dark are the most common, make sure your profile looks good on both!
● Remember, it's all about your preference, so be critical and find out what you do like and don't like to see when you browse profiles.
● Browse profiles to find out just how much you can do and stimulate your creativity!

[b][color=pink]Pictures[/color] - visual stimuli is important too.[/b]
[indent]● The right images convey not just the entire physical description of your character, but their personality and 'interests' as well.
[indent][color=gray][sub]Ex: Whether they're timid or confident, the kind of clothes they like to wear, how they're expected to 'interact' with their partners, etc.[/sub][/color][/indent]● Pick enticing images to tempt, tease and entice your readers. Show off his abs or her long legs with sexy images.
● Lewd images are an easy way to arouse your reader, but not mandatory. A fully clothed woman can be sexier than a naked one.
● Drawn art, western or anime, is usually preferred. Real photos can be creepy, and 3D art can be uncanny. You can still use them, but be tasteful.[/indent]

[b][color=pink]Kinks List[/color] - tell us what you like[/b]
[indent]● First let's begin with the categories:
[indent][color=gray][color=blue][sub]Faves[/sub][/color][sub] - things you love and want in most scenes. [/sub][color=green][sub]Yes's[/sub][/color][sub] - things you like and want when appropriate.[/sub] [color=yellow][sub]Maybes[/sub][/color][sub] - Things you like and love, but not all the time. [/sub][color=red][sub]No's[/sub][/color] [sub]- Things you hate or absolutely won't do with the character.[/sub][/color][/indent]● Kinks are about what you want as the player and not as the character. Your character may be timid and hate dirty talking, but if you want that to be done then stick it in the faves.
● Don't list kinks that you're not interested in or find indifferent. If you are indifferent about 'setting - office' or don't particularly care about 'sweat' then don't list them.
● A lot of the kinks are redundant, if you put 'watersports' as a no then 'swallowing urine' is unnecessary, or faving both 'oral sex' and 'fellatio'.
● Other kinks are obvious by default, like 'consensual sex' and 'vaginal sex', and don't really need to be listed as a fave.
● If you still have too many kinks use the sub-fetish editor to bundle kinks into dropdown boxes, such as all cum-related kinks into a small expandable 'Semen' kink with a short description.
[indent][color=gray][sub]Note: Don't make boxes with only one or two kinks inside or you'll just annoy the reader.[/sub][/color][/indent]● Keep you list 'heavier' on the fave-yes side than in the no's list for a more positive image. Pay more attention to what you love than hate.[/indent]

[b][color=pink]Custom Kinks[/color] - now tell us what you [u]love[/u][/b]
[indent]● Add kinks that aren't listed, like having a thing for a particular canon or maybe bioluminescent cum. [color=pink][user]Profile references[/user][/color] has a huge list of kinks you should look at!
● Use customs to enhance existing kinks, giving your own enticing description about what you love and what you like to do instead of a boring definition of the kink, also showing off your erotic writing.
[indent][color=gray][sub]Ex: Say how much you love getting blowjobs, when they suckle on your balls or their wide tongue runs all the way across the length of your shaft before their plush lips swallow around your cockhead as they gently tease your precum oozing cumslit.[/sub][/color][/indent]● If you make No's elaborating on things you don't like, keep the list short and avoid being 'bitchy' as it gives you a negative vibe.

[collapse=Here's a few profiles with great custom kinks][center][icon]Adrianna[/icon][icon]Demmy Lovings[/icon][icon]Francisca Valero[/icon][icon]hyrule heroine[/icon][icon]Lil Red Hood[/icon][icon]Mommy[/icon][/center][/collapse][/indent]

[b][color=pink]Ending Notes[/color] - just a few more tips[/b]
[indent]● A profile should look clean and easily readable. The main text should only contain pertinent information, keep the rest in organized boxes.
● Long paragraphs make reading harder and boring. Short ones make it seem choppy. There's a good balance in between them.
● Like in the description, too many kinks make it harder to see what's important. Going through a list of hundreds of obvious or redundant kinks is not fun.
● Images don't scale on different resolutions like text does, so if you put text in an image keep in mind that for some people it may be too small to read.
● Rants and overall bitchiness are to be avoided, they make you seem toxic.
● A character is more than a list of his past achievements and current occupation. Remember to give him a personality, don't leave him as a shallow puppet.
