"She got dragged out the window by a massive black monster," replied a half-eaten club sandwich, vaguely irritated. "Didn't even finish. Waste of food - honestly, no manners, whatsoever."
With a sigh, the Prince shook his head, and started heading back down the stairs. At least that meant he could have another couple of nights with the local whores. How do you pin down Princess Anastasia? Imagine the classic Discworld novels mixed with Disney's Princesses, add a splash of the Merc with a Mouth and you're half-way there. She's from a world where at the coming-of-age, princesses are locked in towers and expected to await their rescuers, while ghosts go on union strikes and magical cutlery complains every time they have to summon her food. It's... bizarre, funny, but also kind of hot. It's a perversion of the fairy tales we grew up with, with her insistence that everything go magical, and her delight when it turns out, sometimes, things work out better when they're not. In terms of history, it's generally flexible and based on story, but she is an unmarried maiden to the wealthy King and Queen of the realm, expected to get married to her Prince Charming one day. Of course, this being a fairytale, her finding a suitor involves her father having to find the proper witch to provoke, so she can be banished to a cave or tower, or transformed into stone, and then wait for her Prince Charming to rescue her. If he isn't distracted by a nearby dungeon on the way. Or not interested in women. Honestly, people don't realize how troublesome being a Princess can be. Thankfully, the story is always on her side, and it's one of the few assets she has - fairytale tropes always seem more vibrant and reality-defying around her. She can easily run through the forest in a ballgown without staining it, woodland creatures come to her side, and the moment she's in danger, you can bet some gallant prince is going to come by and rescue her. It's only when these things don't happen that she gets flustered, confused, and even, occasionally, throws a tantrum. Please remember that she while she may act prissy, spoiled, and jealous - usually in the most over-the-top way possible, expecting everything to revolve around her - I'm really, genuinely a nice person out-of-character. Just because she thinks she's the most important figure in her fairy-tale logic, doesn't mean I think agree with the things she gets up to.
SanaSarriel

[collapse=Writing Sample 1]It was quiet, in the highest room in the tallest tower, a place where cold winds blew and whipped through the cracks in the stone, occasionally whipping icy sleet through the open window. Save for the occasional wind and sound of sleet hitting the thatch roof, there was little else to be heard. Princess Anna preferred it that way. Head bowed, silently reading the solitary textbook she'd been handed for the duration of her stay here, she brushed a long brown curl behind her ear, tucking it behind her tiara. It was the way things were done in this day and age. A princess, like her, would be kidnapped and hidden away in a solitary room by a harsh wizard, never to be seen until her true prince came to rescue her from its precarious reaches. And, admittedly, the waiting would get boring, and occasionally she'd poke her head out, hoping to see her rescuer roll up in the wind and sleet, but it seemed that nobody had arrived, yet. She remembered when her sister told her of princesses whose princes forgot to rescue them - distracted by taverns and the women within them - whose seemingly endless supply of food would wither and falter, until they starved to death in the prisons, or threw themselves to the ground below in despair. Not that it'd happen to her, of course. Blinking once and trying to keep her calm, she closed her book, placing it beside her as she glanced out the window. And the sight she saw, a dragon approaching her tower, attempting to break in, made her pale ever so slightly under her light cover of foundation - not too much, of course. She was a princess, not a harlot. No, this wasn't how things were meant to go, at all. Or maybe it was - her prince would come by to rescue her and slay the beast, and then save her. She hoped it was the latter, to be honest. Quietly closing the copy of Hawking's treatise on particle physics, placing it under her pillow - princesses were *never* meant to be that smart, after all - and pressed her ear to the solid stone floor of the tower chamber, listening to the sounds that came from below. Hopefully, the beast would lose interest - or, at least, not find her at the top of the room.[/collapse] [collapse=Writing Sample 2]Rolling her eyes, Princess Anna folded her arms across her chest, trying to hold back tears. "Honestly, this is so silly. Food gets created, magically, by the wizard who put me up here. It won't be ready for another hour, because I have to diet and... stay skinny." She glanced down at her waist, as if to check it - a good princess always stayed in shape - before looking back up at her, and sighing. "And then I'll eat it, and not share it, and when my Prince Charming comes, he'll... he'll beat you up, and take me back to a castle to live happily ever after. That's the way it works." She bites on her lip slightly, watching the dragon fly around the ruined chamber, before eventually sitting on the bed. "The princess waits for the prince to fight his way up the tower, and he's so gallant, and he saves her, and then he kills the monster, and then - it doesn't happen like this! No! You're ruining everything!" Hurling the stool at the ground, the wood shattering, she flopped onto the couch and buried her head in her hands. "This isn't fair!" "That's why you should always just make your own path. Think for yourself and don't let things get in your way," said the dragon with a shrug of her wings, not sure how to explain her way of living to a Princess. "What's something you really like to do or have always wanted to do? You read, but maybe there's something you've read about once, that made you think, 'Hey, I'd like to try that some day'." "Quantum Physics, I suppose," Anna replied, after a moment's thought.[/collapse] One particular scene I'd like to try is more romantic, than anything else. I'd love to see her meet a Prince Charming, and have a legitimate, storybook Disney romance. It's beautiful!
