Born to a very well off family in respected upper crust societies, Mercedes Rubivel Montcroix was often given anything and anything as she grew up. Like any other kid in that situation, this was a dream come true. All the toys you'd want, fun places to go, and people who would do as you'd say (to a certain degree- Papa and Ma'ma would still be holding the leash). Eventually, it got old and dull. But when she discovered the joy of working on things to get what you want, practicing and performing skills by yourself with your own wits and two hands?

Now that was intriguing.

Her hobbies began to include various forms of gaming beyond simple sports, even of "less respectable" ones that high society would expect from a young lady of her station. Regardless, she still plays a mean game of chess as she does with skeet, a hand of poker, or wargaming. Her piano and (light) singing practice was expanded on with guitar. She also grew a passion for flight and mechanics as well. Her love of the method of flight brought out "the irony of being named after something that crawls the roads" and prefers a shortening her middle name, Ruby, now. She still kept up her collection of plushies and figures, especially of dragons.

Her parents noted this new "rebellious streak" and felt as long as she continued to excel at her studies, that this was a healthy "quirk" to help her in her adult life and the family business instead of another simpering debutante who'd just go off to be married young, even if her interests weren't always ladylike. As per this silent agreement, she did do quite well, even moving past a grade or two in her classes at the small co-ed school she attended between home schooling. The home schooling was to focus on things even a wealthy school didn't cover, and because she was starting to create a rather impressive info network between the other students that was ticking off the school staff.

But now after age fifteen, her parents had to move their large business elsewhere due to many factors and she was enrolled to a new school. Far larger and less enclosed than the last one. All her old friends far, far away, no more familiar places to sneak off to, and no more influence like she had at that smaller school. As far as anyone else was concerned, she was another stuck up rich kid with a silver spoon born in her mouth. Who also liked to collect dragon plushies.

This, like any other challenge, she welcomed greatly.

Now her recent anxiousness, lingering gaze on the student body, and odd thoughts of seeing different people in a strange light after her most recent growth spurt (and perhaps because she's no longer eating her last school's meals that may have been laced with something like Saltpeter) that was an awkward she wasn't quite used to.

While a smart, caring person with a great deal of passion, Ruby usually so focused in finding ways to get what she'd desire that she tends to over analyze a situation. She's often considered bold, just doing things or taking the lead when it suits her. Either leading her into just doing her own thing or being considered "bossy". Even though she is comfortable to leadership or creating a new group, Ruby is quite gentle and not forceful, or hostile. Either you like her plan, or she'll hear out an alternative. She's not usually bitchy, and when she catches herself that way, she'll go alienate herself from the others to better compose herself. She honestly has very little interest in backstabby social climbers or hyper cliquey groups, where you're from, or who your parents are.

She values traits of friends that they define for themselves and what they do with it.

Ruby is uncomfortable to compliments on her person at the moment, as she's a bit of a late bloomer and will blush furiously at most praise. She was always praised on being "such a cute girl" or a "charming lass", but now it makes her frustrated that her body reacts outside of her control.

The girl's sense of humor is rather eccentric. She likes playing up the "prissy rich girl above your station" thing people expect from her by telling exaggerations and lies of her life with a straight face before busting out something common or goofy "undignified" humor and pranks. She was quite proud of the results from attending a stuffy birthday ball of a girl her age in a ball gown and a bucket of Groucho glasses in her gloved hands, with wild animals and "alternate musical entertainment" on stand by. Ruby's background is intentionally made vague for ease of setting transferring. Steampunk, Semi-Modern or Modern Gonzo Sci-Fi/Fantasy, near/far future, alternate history, deep space colonies, or just base vanilla modern day if you like. She's the new kid at school who looks a little older for her age, so she should be an easy fit if you have a particular setting you're dying to play with.

Age is another thing that can be variable. If you want to set the story in and around school or family, her age can easily be changed to 16-18. Outside of school or problems with family or just want two kids on their own, she can be in her late teens to her very early twenties.
