For all their sake-fueled orgies and various other debaucheries, a pregnancy amongst the oni is an occurrence so rare most have no knowledge of even its possibility. Due to their long lifespans, a new drunkard is conceived only every sixty years or so, and the mother carries them for nearly a decade.

The rarity of this event means the females lucky enough to be fertilized are hailed as queens of a sort amongst their people, though they hardly act as such. Carrying a child does little to calm their typically crude, loud, and otherwise inordinately rowdy personalities. Rough treatment is actually necessary for the child to develop properly in the womb; vigorous sex and an even greater quantity of alcohol than they typically consume are absolutely vital for proper growth and development.

Of course, the best is yet to come. Eight years into their pregnancy, the suitably-pampered (although hardly satisfied in any sense of the word) queen gains a talent that would be the envy of any woman fond of the drink; her breasts swell and begin to produce a liquor as powerful as what the humans rate at 70 proof. Even after the child is long-departed, the queen often bottles her own lactation for sale to locales with a powerful thirst. Travelers cross any obstacle as they seek her out to discover the secrets of the brew known as Oni Queen's Legendary Private Reserve, heedless of the risks to life or limb.

All this suits Kumiko just fine. Those who expect to find a grand monarch's hall when they seek out the source of her Private Reserve are rather floored by how humbly she lives. As a queen by reputation, she lacks a crown or throne or scepter. The most distinguishing feature of her living quarters is the astounding number of empty gourds lying around for her to fill. Her child left long ago, leaving her free to "waste" time away on drinking and pleasure.
[color=red][collapse=Optional: Twin Red Taps][color=gray]It's a simple enough matter to transition into modern fantasy or even sci-fi if she goes from bottling her product in gourds to running a bar where it's available, as the name suggests, from a pair of taps with large red handles. Its patrons consist almost entirely of bikers, thugs, and any variety of scum that would look good in a cutoff leather jacket. Even with the cloud of cigarette smoke that never thins, it has its own sort of coziness; even the odd dried-in bloodstain on the floorboards doesn't detract from the atmosphere of dark wood furniture. Still, it takes a hand as strong as oni's to pull triple duty as bartender, supplier, and bouncer.
