Born in 2538, to Maya and Jorkai Obskova, Kiro lived a simple childhood on the frontier colony of Nebeskya. Most people worked in and around the few mines that ensured the colony was profitable, the vast stores of valuable metals deep within the planet's crust providing enough reason to resort to 'High Impact Mining,' a process that often required a significant amount of equipment, that often failed. Her father, Jorkai, was one of the many mechanics that worked on the various drilling rigs, mobile ore processors and surveyor craft. It is from this that she spent much of her childhood around machines, always helping her father, much to the chagrin of her mother, who wished for a more traditional upbringing. She learned the ins and outs of a TX-33 Plasma Drive by the time she was 10, having helped her father service them a thousand times, and she could generally find what was wrong with something within an hour by the age of 15. Although she was mechanically gifted, there were no prospects for a girl like her on Nebeskya, so when she came of age, she enlisted into the Joint Systems Navy as a ship's mechanic, a two year term of service to allow her to see the galaxy, and to learn to maintain the vast bellies of the ships in use by the JSN.

When the time came for re-enlistment, she declined, preferring instead to go into independent work, a certain adventurous spirit to her as she searched and looked for work on the various transports and haulers that ply the void. Her first job only lasted a scant month, ending when the ship's power coupling destabilized due to the other mechanic's inept attempt at trying to organize her repairs on the ship, something which was blamed on her. Being hired was more difficult from there, but she still managed the odd job here or there for a few months at a time, finally landing herself unemployed in a space port with a record that forgets to show just how her jury rigging often fixed a problem that would have been worse if not for her.

So she has been grounded, for nearly a year now as she tries desperately to get aboard a ship, anything to see the stars and the belly of the beasts she has such a knack for maintaining. Maybe even willing to do anything to get aboard, if the proper coercion is provided.
