Brendan's most powerful and feared pokemon. His Blaziken, Inferna.

The Blaziken (Latin: Ferox Phoenix) is a large flightless reptilian bird of prey native to the deserts and savannahs of the Kanto and Hoenn Regions. Powerfully built to run at incredibly high speeds in its vast enviroment, it constitutes a formidable predator of the great plains and forests of Hoenn.
These birds are several shades of dark red, with white plummage around their necks, and yellow/orange plumage sorrounding the wrist and ankle areas, though these vary from male to female. Inmature Blaziken, often called Torchics or Combusken in their youthful stages, typically have orange and yellow plumage, that shed upon reaching maturity. Blaziken generally live alone or in pairs, guarding territories that can extend up to 50 km2. They tend to mate for long extended periods or even for life, and take care of their chicks until they reach full maturity. Once gaining independance, they wander off for years at a time until they can find a new territory in which it can establish dominance.

This species tends to show varying degrees of physical change among the adult genders, young adult males and females share a quite similar appearance, with yellow/orange plumage on the lower extremities, and long white feathers extruding from the back of its head towards it's back, while elder, more well fed and experienced males tend to grow black plumage and big white crests on its head and suffer a slight increase in size. It is extremely difficult to achieve this state in captivity, thouh recent studies have shown that the presence of certain soils in this birds diet help it achieve this healthier state.
Blaziken use their agility, speed, capability to produce fires combined with powerful legs and massive, sharp claws and beak to hunt a variety of prey, generally smaller pokemon (mammals, reptiles, fish and other birds) and carrion. While its powerful legs and sharp claws serve as its primary weapon in the wild, it is its powerfull eyes that allow it to hunt and detect prey in its vast, often foliage filled ecosystem, being able to see at least 9 times better than the average human being. It can reputedly spot a pikachu 3 miles away.

For centuries the Blaziken has been highly regarded among human cultures of the Kanto and Hoenn regions for its proficiency in hunting and its incredibly high speeds, with many martial arts moves named after or inspired directly upon the Blazikens percieved martial prowess. It's feathers were a highly sought after luxury by warrior groups, and were associated with high status and proficiency in war, while the Blaziken itself was sought after as a pet by both Kanto and Hoenn nobility. In modern times the habitat of the Blaziken has been somewhat reduced by settlement encroachment in the area, though its presence remains fairly popolous in the regions and has yet to show signs of harsh decrees.
As a pokemon pet Blaziken is not recommended for anybody except the most experienced of trainers, and must be raised from a torchic with extreme responsability and care, as these animals can be very dangerous, however, properly educated and trained, a Blaziken can be a worthy and loyal companion and a great hunter.


[b]Personal history.[/b]
Brendan's Blaziken Inferna, Latin for inferno, was Brendan's first pokemon. He first met Brendan as a Torchic, being commanded to attack a Mudkip belonging to another trainer(May). Inferna was the pokemon Brendan started his journey with. Brendan took really good care of him while he was still a little chick. He trusted his trainer and always followed behind him like he was his parent. At the same time Brendan also made him undergo very tough training. A few times it became almost too much for the little Torchic that wondered why he demanded seemingly so much of him.

After having evolved into a Combusken he became increasingly interested in fighting and the training Brendan had given him made him increadibly strong and fast for an adolescent Combusken. He liked the challenge, the adrenaline, standing victorious over his foe. This was also the time that Brendan was starting to uncover the plans of Team Magma and Aqua and made his training even more important. While having great respect for his trainer, he really came to see how much he actually cared when he personally intervened to stop him being overrun by a big pack of Magma's Mightyenas that were unleased on him, fighting without any honor at all. He managed to make it easier for him to beat them back, but not without causing several deep bitecuts in his trainers right arm and left leg. After this he came to greatly respect Brendan, earning him his full loyalty.

There were no issues when Inferna evolved into a Blaziken, remaining loyal to his trainer. Male Blazikens like him are known for being dominant, individualistic and thus unpredictable. He is an apex predator and warrior. Strong, fast and would rather face overwhelming defeat and fight to the very end than retreating. That is his nature, the nature of his species. So long as he did not use any powers, he was even allowed to fight his trainer. Even though he would always win, he had to admit that his trainers martial art capabilities and strength were impressive. Making Brendan earn even more of his respect and loyalty. That loyalty and trust were many times the only thing that saved them from death during the Primordial Crisis of Hoenn. Were they faced primordial pokemon gods wielding mythical powers. Today, Inferna is undoubtedly one of Brendan's strongest pokemon and the one pokemon that made it possible for him to become champion. A fierce warrior by nature trained in the Art of War.

To make sure that his instincts don't consume him, Brendan often allows him to roam free in the wilderness up to weeks at a time. Here he can be in his element. Hunting for his food, defending his habitat and also look for a mate. One thing to note is that Inferna have a special liking for human females. Being bipedal just like Blazikens, the feminine outlines of females of both species are very similar. This makes him see humans females and even female humanoid Pokemon, such as Gardevoirs as potential mates. Being technically tamed, he often follows female trainers acting as their Pokemon, before making his move on them. He will then continue to act as their Pokemon for a while before leaving. He always leaves clues that lead them back to him and his trainer Brendan, the Hoenn champion. Usually his chosen mate will continue to have a sexual relationship with him and also his trainer, Brendan.

Recently have have begun doing this with his Pokemon friends. A few are Brendan's Arcanine, Cerberus. His Lucario, Fulmen. Herbasaur, the Sceptile and Fortis, the Mightyena.
