When Hannah finally joined the FBI, she knew she was going to be doing something important.
The last several years of her life had built up to this point. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from her university, passed every test the Bureau gave her with flying colors, and excelled in nearly every extracurricular activity she has put her mind to. Sure there were a few sleazy men who mistook her eagerness for something to exploit, but she was able to ignore them without much controversy. Not that she would have known what to do anyway, mind you. Young Hannah never even had a boyfriend, much less participated in any hanky panky.

This model of a female agent expected to be busting criminals within a year. It was much to her displeasure, then, when she was appointed to the Supernatural Division. She regarded this as a sick joke done by someone whose advances she scorned, but the truth was much more complicated.

Despite all appearances to the contrary, the supernatural isn't as fictional as most people believe. The old gods and things that go bump in the night are still a problem, one that the FBI has grown adept at solving. Sometimes, however, the only way to appease these beasts is with a virginal tribute. So it would seem that Hannah's position makes her much more important than she thought.
