He had always admired the work ethic of a lot of teachers, but often downplayed just how much effort they put into their job. To him, it was a lot easier to be the one handing out the assignments than to be the one doing them. Plus with electronic graders and answer keys, the life of a teacher couldn't be that difficult, could it? Maybe it was this downplaying that caused him to pursue a career in education. In fact, he was so sure of himself that he often dreamed of being the highly respected, universally loved teacher who would always receive gifts from his students. That fantasy continued from the first day of college until his first day of teaching, when reality hit Hajime like a ton of bricks. As it turns out, being a teacher is a lot more work than Hajime could have imagined. Writing lesson plans quickly became tedious, adhering to strict district guidelines was frustrating, and dealing with people who made it their goal to be as obnoxious as possible was more than he could handle. Unlike the teachers he grew up with, he was often tasked with handling multiple age groups, including the occasional graduate students who were the same age as, if not older, than him! It's truly a miracle he hadn't quit or gone bald after a while. He can't say it's all bad though. The hours aren't too demanding and there are always a few star students who make his decision really feel worth it, to the point where he sees them as more than students.[/small][/color][/indent] [hr][color=red][big][b]A[/b][/big][/color]ppearance[hr][indent][color=white][small]Standing at well over six feet tall, Hajime has been called intimidating by those who see him for the first time. This has been a constant source of confusion for him, as he considers himself to be anything but intimidating, although he doesn't exactly have a lack of understanding as to why people would think that; he often sports an expression that comes off as uncaring or indifferent, his two-toned eyes makes him stand out and causes people to think something's wrong with him. A natural-born redhead, he tends to dye his hair a darker shade often as something about the orange-red tint his hair grows with never sat right with him.[/small][/color][/indent] [hr][color=red][big][b]P[/b][/big][/color]ersonality[hr][indent][color=white][small]An authoritative kind of person, Hajime considers himself to be the "textbook teacher." He's kind, considerate, and helpful to those that work hard and truly seem like they're trying to improve. He's strict, critical, and maybe a little cruel to those that slack off and waste both his time and their time. This is an image he's come to know and love, as if it were a separate person, and he tries hard to keep up that image in front of his students. So much so that the slightest mistake, the slightest threat to his perfectly maintained image, can cause him to go into a panic. He finds himself unable to handle stress very well: the stress of administrative expectations; the stress of planning class curriculum; the stress of dealing with unruly students. For the most part he can handle himself very well, at least to keep up appearances, but every once in a while he reaches that breaking point and tends to take out his frustration on others, often those that are the source of his frustration, to the point where some of his actions could borderline illegality.[/small][/color][/indent] [hr][color=red][big][b]O[/b][/big][/color]ther[hr][indent][collapse=On Statuses][color=green][small][b]Looking:[/b][/small][/color] [color=white][small]It's very, very rare that I set my status to this, but it's here for completeness.
