Anne, Scourge of the Sultry Seas, was taken captive by a pirate band while on a transatlantic voyage. Luckily for her, the captain was a lecherous drunk who was easy to seduce and then throw overboard in the night. Anne took his hat and put it upon her own head and, following the Pirate Code, the crew immediately took her on as the captain.

At least that's the story she will tell you. The truth is something more complicated, but it hardly matters. Anne, who named herself thus after Her Royal Majesty Queen Anne (long may she reign), is a pirate king in her own right. With nearly twenty seven ships sacked of French, Spanish, and Dutch alike, a bounty of a ton of silver (literally) on her head, and a crew of cutthroats who are very happy to serve their Pirate King, she's something not to be troubled with. When other pirates didn't give her the respect she felt she deserved on account of being a woman (what with that being bad luck at sea), she dubbed herself a Pirate King. Because how can she be both a woman and a Pirate King? Besides, there's already a Queen Anne!
