[collapse=Backstory]Bethany spent her early years in a small farming community a few days ride from the capital of the kingdom. Being born out of wedlock many rumors about her [i]real[/i] father spread . Some said she was the daughter of a dragon, others a very persuasive bard, while a few whispered mentions of a ritual involving demons and all sorts of dark magics. Most however didn't really care to be gossiping sorts and believed that sometimes the cart comes before the horse. Sometimes it's best to be give folks the benefit out of the doubt, as to prevent any Mary Sue situations.

Despite the initial controversy regarding her birth Bethany had a fairly decent life and enjoyable life. She seldom complained about the lifestyle, enjoyed her time working in the kitchen and tending to the animals. Unfortunately like most backstories this one required some conflict. When tending to the horses, the ever clumsy and forgetful Bethany absentmindedly approached one of the horses from behind on her way to feed it in the fields. One kick to the chest later she predictably lost consciousness. At this moment the majority of the towns harvest was taken out in a violent storm that mysteriously came from nowhere. As she came to, the storm dissipated. The event was an absolute mystery, causing the towns folks much strife as they barely made it through the season.

By chance a charlatan of a mage and his crew of very hungry companions appeared in the town a few weeks later. The broke and starving adventures cast eventually identified the storms as coming from Bethany. The townsfolk were naturally confused and alarmed by this, causing the rumors of dragons and demons to start up once more. Under the pressure of the townsfolk she decided to bid her home goodbye, setting off with the band of hungry adventurers. She vowed only to return when she'd gathered enough gold to pay for the reparation AND learned to control her powers. Needless to say, things with her new party didn't work out too well after about a month so she's set off on her own to find advenutre, gold, knowledge, love, and whatever else comes her way![/collapse]
